Took the long drive from Missoula to Glacier National Park, so that put us in at West Glacier, MT. It is about a 3 hour drive one way, but totally worth the drive. As I was deciding on what photos to use on this post, I got excited all over again. We took the Going-to-the-Sun Road, it takes you pretty much straight across the park, exiting at St. Mary, MT. This is an all day trip, we recommend to pack lunch, snacks and drinks! There is places at the entrance’s but nothing inside the actual park.
They have the visitor center that you can use the restroom and get more information regarding the park, trails to hike, camping, And because there is a section of the park that actually is in Canada! So they provide information about Canada as well.
Selfie overload!!! At the end of this post I will show you how we got some of these great selfies!!
It started out a little over cast and cloudy, but soon it all burnt off to be a beautiful day. It was a nice warm sunny day. There is so much to see, at every turn there is a waterfall, wild life, or just a beautiful view. There are plenty of areas to pull over to take a look around to see all the beauty around.
We are having so much fun! So lucky to live this life!!
Look at this water!! NO PHOTOSHOP USED!!! You can find hidden gems like this all over the place. This is McDonald Creek.
Mother Nature is great, There is beauty all around.
Driving through the mountain!! And to the left of the tunnel is a waterfall! Like we said they pop up everywhere, its due to the snow melting.
The National Park Service did wonders with planning roads in the park, you can see the long waterfall, with the road built around it.
This is a little better photo of how they are so amazing about protecting as much as they can.
This is the same waterfall but from the view on the road. Haystack Falls, it is 150 feet tall. It almost seems man made do to the way the rock is stacked but this is all natural.
Do you see what we see when looking at the photo? A Heart maybe?? Well thats what we saw and had to capture the incredible site.
What is that snow? In August? Yes, it is!! But what is hard to see is how thin that layer of snow is. This is not the only spot with snow, of course we saw some on the mountains in the distance. But this close to the road was exciting for us.
Come on, how cool and beautiful is this.
We stopped at Lunch Creek and took a small hike to the multi layer of falls. We felt like what you would think of in the Garden of Eden!
So is this a rock or a tree??
It is rock, but at one time could it have been a tree? You can see the bark running along the top layer, then what looks like the wood, even with the lines to count how old the tree is!
This is Jackson Glacier, at the end of Little Ice Age in about 1850, the area contained about 150 glaciers. At this time there is only 25 active glaciers in the park today.
This is an amazing husband, he goes into the ice cold water in order to get the picture of a great waterfall the wife wanted!!!
The shot that he captured!!
This was a great day!
As promised above, we decided with this trip we would be taken a lot of selfies. But it’s hard to get all of the beauty behind yourself. So I turned to Amazon, my search came up with this!
A tripod selfie stick with remote. Thats right a remote!! I have provided the link for you!! Happy Trails!!
