As you stroll through the streets of Savannah, Georgia it is easy to see why it is one of the most popular get aways for couples.
Walk the Riverfront, 9 blocks pedestrian plaza located on the former grounds of the city’s cotton exchange. There is shopping, restaurants, along with memorials in the area. beautiful things to see with the bright flowers and foliage.
And you can not make a trip to Savannah without stopping by Chippewa Square, and visit the area of the park bench that Tom Hanks sat while filming “Forrest Gump”. Make sure you get your photo in there! The bench was removed, and currently in the Savannah History Museum.
There is no marker’s of where the bench was once, but the bench was located on the north side of the square facing Bull Street, where there is now a garden.
Chippewa Square is one of the most known squares of all Savannah, right in the center of everything. The square was planned out in 1815 to honor the Battle if Chippewa in the War of 1812. The Centerpiece for the square is a Statue of General James Oglethorpe, the founder of the Colony of Georgia.
And you can’t forget about Forsyth Park, it is know for the beautiful walking paths and the water fountain.
The fountain was added to the park in 1858, and has a twin fountain in Madison, Indiana.
And to drive down the streets with the beautiful oak trees with the moss hanging down. It is so like you are in a storybook.
And make sure you stop by Leopold’s Ice Cream, it is a Savannah tradition. Located in the Historic Savannah, you will not be disappointed in stopping. Most liking you will have to wait in the line, but its worth the wait.
Now to our next stop, this place holds a special place in our hearts. You see we love our country, we love our military, and we love our veterans. We have followed this company for the last few years, and was so excited to be able to go to the sticks and bricks store.
