Wow, we can not believe we have been on the road for 1 year!! But we would not change a single thing! Well maybe a few!! Although we have learned so much, we know there is always more to learn!!
Today we are going to help you with a few thought we had about Do’s and Don’ts while on the road.
1. When buying your RV, first research, Yelp, Facebook, etc. Then when you find one you think can be “The One”, sit in for a long while, like 30 +minutes, without a salesman! Make sure you really like the placement of everything! It’s sounds silly, but the TV down to the windows! Sit in all way chairs and couches, just like you would if you are living there! Nothing is worse than living in it for a month or so to only realize how uncomfortable they are.
If you decide to go with a class A, go with a flat towable vehicle! Car dolly’s are not much fun and can be stressful!
2. Be prepared for the unexpected! We planned and planned so much for the trip down to exact days , but guess what? Things happen, they break, weather will change your plans, etc! Go with the flow, you are doing this to explore, visit new places, have fun! So do that, don’t sweat the details too much!! You never know who you could meet, and the fun you can have.
3.Storage: make sure you ask yourself do I really need this?
The Captain loaded way too many T-shirt’s, not realizing that he would get some on the road! Depending on how much space you have will really determine what you take! But remember you will pick up something here or there!! And that’s ok!!
When we started we made several lists of things we thought we would need in the coach. Kitchen stuff, bathroom, cloths. And everything you can think of for the outside! Well as you go, you will see something that another camper has and want it! For us, it was a portable fire pit that hooks up to our propane, and a tabletop Black Stone griddle!! But that’s ok! Just make sure you have room for everything. We even found that things we thought we needed, and we never use, so we find a place to donate that stuff!
3. And the biggest that we learned that we could not live without is a washer and dryer!
I was the one that thought, I will just go to the campground laundry, or a laundry mat in town! First of all, we would have paid for the washer and dryer for what we have spent at these places! And second, some are pretty gross! Some people don’t care that they leave machines dirty!!
Have a great time on your adventures, by happy, stay positive, go explore!!
